Eight years ago, Sarah M. Greer quit her day job at a woodworking magazine to pursue her passion — music. The journey since has been a thrilling and enriching ride. Truly grateful for every chance to sing for and with others, Sarah views each performance as a vehicle for adventure and discovery.

An accomplished jazz/blues/soul quartet, BLU-7 (John Iden, Jim Ouska, Doug Rohde and Dean White) touts a wide range of influences and confidently presents numerous styles. Working and playing together for nearly a decade, the group had an established and diverse repertoire of standards, blues and originals.

Sarah began singing with BLU-7 in 2012, sitting in with John Iden (bass) and Jim Ouska (guitar) at a weekly brunch gig. Soon she was a full-fledged band member, rehearsing and performing with the guitar-bass duo as well as pianist Doug Rohde and drummer Dean White.

“They are a talented group of players, who are versed in so many styles. Plus, Jim and Doug have written a lot their own material. I can bring just about anything to the guys and we can find a new, BLU-7 way to play it.”

For their upcoming performance at Jazz Central, BLU-7 will explore contemporary tunes from artists such as the Sam Cooke, Ricki Lee Jones and Nina Simone as well as some jazz classics from Thelonius Monk and Herbie Hancock.
